1. A system comprising:
a first sensing device configured to monitor a first area, the first sensing device comprising:
a sensor for capturing data regarding a detected object,
a first module for converting the captured data into event data for the detected object,
a second module for (a) determining, from the event data, whether the detected object is a human, (b) in a case that the detected object is determined to be a human, determining a movement pattern of the human, (c) based on the movement pattern, determining when the human has crossed a predetermined threshold within the first area, and (d) generating an incremental count value in response to the determining when the human has crossed the predetermined threshold; and
a server remote from the first sensing device, wherein the server is communicatively coupled to the first sensing device via a network, the server being configured to receive the generated incremental count data from the first sensing device.
