1. A network entity in a wireless communication system, the network entity comprising:
a processor configured to:
identify a non-terrestrial network (NTN) type associated with an NTN; and
configure a set of parameters for performing wireless communication based on the NTN type; and
a transceiver operably connected to the processor, the transceiver configured to transmit, to a user equipment (UE) or a network function (NF), information indicating the NTN type via one or more interfaces,
wherein the NTN type indicates of a type of an NTN satellite and a type of a payload,
wherein the type of the NTN satellite indicates one of a geostationary earth orbit (GEO), a medium earth orbit (MEO), a low earth orbit (LEO), or a unmanned aerial system (UAS), and
wherein the type of the payload indicates a transparent payload or a regenerative payload.
