1. A method of converting CO to CO2 comprising,
a) contacting a first process stream comprising the CO and at least one of C1 to C12 saturated and unsaturated hydrocarbons with an oxygen transfer agent; and
b) oxidizing at least a portion of the CO to CO2 and reducing at least a portion of the oxygen transfer agent to a reduced oxygen transfer agent, at reaction conditions, to provide a second process stream comprising the CO2, the reduced oxygen transfer agent, and the at least one of C1 to C12 saturated and unsaturated hydrocarbons; wherein the C1 to C12 saturated and unsaturated hydrocarbons are not further oxidized; and
c) contacting the reduced oxygen transfer agent with a third process stream comprising molecular oxygen to provide a regenerated oxygen transfer agent
wherein the oxygen transfer agent comprises at least one reducible metal oxide.
