1. An apparatus of a next generation NodeB, the apparatus comprising:
processing circuitry configured to:
encode, for transmission to a user equipment (UE), discontinuous reception (DRX) information indicating a plurality of physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) monitoring occasions within a paging occasion of a paging frame;
determine that downlink data is to be transmitted to the UE during a DRX cycle of the UE;
apply listen-before-talk (LBT) to determine whether a PDCCH comprising a Paging Radio Network Temporary Identifier (P-RNTI) of the UE is able to be sent in an unlicensed band at a first of the plurality of PDCCH monitoring occasions within the paging occasion; and
in response a determination that the PDCCH is unable to be sent due to LBT failure, apply LBT to determine whether the PDCCH is able to be sent in the unlicensed band at a second of the plurality of PDCCH monitoring occasions within the paging occasion, wherein respective PDCCH monitoring occasions of the plurality of PDCCH monitoring occasions within the paging occasion correspond to respective synchronization signal blocks (SSBs) of a plurality of SSBs from the next generation NodeB, wherein a first number of PDCCH monitoring occasions correspond to each SSB of the plurality of SSBs, and wherein the first number is greater than one and is configured via radio resource control (RRC) signaling; and
a memory configured to store the paging information.
