1. A method for video decoding, comprising:
receiving a bitstream of a current block in a picture, the bitstream including coding information indicating that the current block is coded according to a prediction mode with a block vector (BV);
determining a reference block in the picture based on the BV of the current block, the reference block and the current block having an overlapped region, the reference block including both (i) unreconstructed samples in the overlapped region and (ii) reconstructed samples outside the overlapped region, a part of the current block being outside the reference block; and
performing motion compensation for the current block by reconstructing the overlapped region in the current block based on the reconstructed samples in the reference block that are outside the overlapped region, wherein
a width of the overlapped region and a height of the overlapped region are multiples of 4.
