1. A method of decoding an image, comprising:
determining an intra prediction mode for a chroma component of a current block in the image;
performing, based on the intra prediction mode, intra prediction for the chroma component of the current block using one or more reference sample lines; and
obtaining reconstruction samples for the chroma component of the current block based on prediction samples resulting from the intra prediction,
wherein a number of the one or more reference sample lines available for the chroma component of the current block is adaptively determined based on a position of the current block in a coding tree unit (CTU),
wherein, in response to a case where the current block adjoins the boundary of the CTU, the intra prediction for the chroma component of the current block is performed using one reference sample line, and
wherein, in response to a case where the current block does not adjoin the boundary of the CTU, the intra prediction for the chroma component of the current block is performed using three reference sample lines.
