1. A gaming machine comprising:
a cabinet;
a display device coupled to the cabinet;
a lighting assembly coupled to the cabinet, the lighting assembly comprising at least one light-emitting device;
game-logic circuitry configured to conduct one or more casino wagering games and generate graphical data including lighting data, the graphical data being generated as pixel values; and
a display controller communicatively coupled to the display device and the lighting assembly, the display controller configured to cause the display device to present display content associated with the one or more casino wagering games, the display controller configured to:
receive the graphical data from the game-logic circuitry;
extract the lighting data from the graphical data;
convert the lighting data from pixel values to lighting control parameters accepted by the lighting assembly by comparing the pixel values of the lighting data to a lighting conversion map indicating predefined relationships between lighting control parameters and pixel values; and
cause the lighting assembly to emit light based on the lighting control parameters of the lighting data.
