1. A component, comprising:
a substrate comprising a nickel- or cobalt-based superalloy;
a metallic bond coat; and
a ceramic coating system comprising:
a lower ceramic coating and an upper ceramic coating,
an intermediate ceramic coating located between the lower ceramic coating and the upper ceramic coating, comprising a rougher surface than an upper surface of the lower ceramic coating, and comprising a maximum thickness of 25% of a thickness of the lower ceramic coating or of the upper ceramic coating, and
wherein the intermediate ceramic coating comprises a porosity greater than a porosity of the lower ceramic coating.

14. A component, comprising:
a substrate;
a metallic bond coat based on a NiCoCrAl composition; and
a ceramic coating system comprising:
a lower ceramic coating and an upper ceramic coating,
an intermediate ceramic coating located between the lower ceramic coating and the upper ceramic coating, comprising a rougher surface than an upper surface of the lower ceramic coating, and comprising a maximum thickness of 25% of a thickness of the lower ceramic coating or of the upper ceramic coating, and
