1. A washing machine comprising:
a tub;
a drum in the tub;
a motor to rotate the drum within the tub;
a water supplier to supply water into the tub;
a water level sensor to measure a water level in the tub; and
a controller configured to:
control the motor to perform a first weight detection course which obtains a first weight value before water supply into the tub is started,
after performing the first weight detection course, control the water supplier to start the water supply into the tub,
while controlling the water supplier to supply water into the tub, based on the water level in the tub measured by the water level sensor being less than a preset water level until a predetermined time has elapsed after the water supply into the tub is started, control the motor to perform a second weight detection course which obtains a second weight value, and
based on a difference between the first weight value and the second weight value, control the water supplier to continue or stop the water supply into the tub.
