A polynucleotide sequence encoding at least one engineered acetate kinase, said polynucleotide sequence comprising at least 90%, 91%, 92%, 93%, 94%, 95%, 96%, 97%, 98%, or 99% sequence identity to SEQ ID NOs: 1 and/or 3, wherein the polypeptide sequence of said engineered acetate kinase comprises at least one substitution at at position 294 or substitution set comprising a substitution at 294.
