1. A method of determining a tool path for use in additively manufacturing a structure, the method comprising:
receiving a model of the structure having a base surface that will rest on a build plate during manufacturing and at least one other surface;
identifying the at least one other surface as a propagation surface;
determining a structure boundary associated with the propagation surface and defining at least part of the structure;
determining one or more structure layers offset from and based on the propagation surface and laterally bounded by the structure boundary;
generating a tool path for each structure layer; and
controlling an additive manufacturing tool to manufacture the structure based on the generated tool path.
