1. A monitoring system, comprising:
a plunger wiper coupled to a plunger positioned within a drug container and operable to travel with the plunger inside the drug container;
a first conductive trace on an interior surface of the drug container;
a second conductive trace positioned adjacent to the first conductive trace on the interior surface of the drug container, wherein the plunger wiper is formed from an electrically conductive material and is positioned to electrically couple the first conductive trace and the second conductive trace; and
a controller electrically coupled to the first conductive trace and the second conductive trace, wherein:
the first conductive trace and the second conductive trace are operable to form a variable resistance network usable by the controller to determine a fill status of the drug container.
