1. A near-eye system comprising:
a light source configured to emit image light, wherein the image light is visible light;
an infrared light source configured to emit infrared light;
a display waveguide including an input coupler;
an eye-tracking waveguide including an output coupler; and
a scanner configured to direct the image light and the infrared light to the input coupler of the display waveguide, wherein the input coupler is configured to:
incouple the visible light into the display waveguide to present a virtual image to an eyebox region; and
direct the infrared light to the eye-tracking waveguide, wherein the output coupler of the eye-tracking waveguide directs the infrared light to the eyebox region as infrared illumination light.
