1. A surgical access system adapted for performing laparoscopic surgical procedures at a natural orifice comprising:
an outer ring, wherein the outer ring is configured to be disposed proximate the natural orifice of a patient and substantially surrounds the natural orifice; and
a tubular body comprising a proximal end, a distal end, a longitudinal axis, and a diameter adapted to accommodate the anatomy of the natural orifice, the proximal end of the tubular body being connected to the outer ring, wherein the tubular body is sized to fit within the natural orifice with minimal distention, wherein the tubular body comprises a plurality of distinct and separate sections configured to connect to each other to form the tubular body, and wherein the plurality of distinct and separate sections are configured to form the tubular body having varying lengths,
wherein an outer diameter of the surgical access system is between 30 mm and 70 mm.
