1. A method performed by hardware processing circuitry, comprising:
receiving, by a server from a mobile device application operating in a booking mode, booking information for a multi-modal transportation service, the multi-modal transportation service including at least two travel legs using different travel modalities;
detecting, by the server, that a start time for the multi-modal transportation service is within a threshold time of a current time; and
in response to the detecting, instructing, by the server, the mobile device application to transition from the booking mode to a status mode to display travel status information for the multi-modal transportation service.
