1. A method performed by one or more computers, the method comprising:
obtaining voltage measurements across at least two interface terminals i) of a thermostat that controls an HVAC system of a property, ii) at least one interface terminal of which is configured to deliver power to the HVAC system;
analyzing the voltage measurements obtained across the at least two interface terminals;
in response to analyzing the voltage measurements obtained across the at least two interface terminals, determining a status of a component of the HVAC system;
in response to determining the status of the component of the HVAC system, generating and outputting data indicating the status of the HVAC system.
