1. A valve body comprising:
a monolithic metal core including a fluid inlet, a fluid outlet, a head port to receive a valve shaft and a fluid passageway extending between the fluid inlet and the fluid outlet, the fluid passageway defining an orifice having a central axis that coaxially aligns with a central axis of the head port, the monolithic metal core having a variable thickness, a first portion of the fluid passageway leading to the orifice having a first thickness that is greater than a second thickness of other portions of the monolithic metal core defining the fluid passageway between the fluid inlet and the fluid outlet; and
an exterior shell encasing the monolithic metal core, the exterior shell bonded to the monolithic metal core, the exterior shell including carbon steel, the exterior shell to provide a pressure-boundary of the valve body.
