1. A method for inspecting a rail, said rail being instrumented by at least one sensor receiving waves being propagated in the rail upon the passage of a train or of a vehicle rolling on the rail, the method comprising:
receiving measurement signals from said at least one sensor, upon the passage of a train or of a vehicle rolling on the rail, said at least one sensor being fixed under the head of the rail and/or on the web of the rail;
from the measured signal or signals, determining a function representative of the impulse response of the rail.
