1. A method comprising:
determining a selected field of view for visualizing a scene;
identifying a subarray of pixels of an image sensor corresponding with the selected field of view, wherein the subarray of pixels comprises fewer than all pixels in a pixel array of the image sensor; and
causing the image sensor to read out only the subarray of pixels to generate a frame approximating the selected field of view;
wherein the subarray of pixels comprises a reference pixel and a plurality of pixels organized into a plurality of columns and a plurality of rows.
