1. An aerosol generating device comprising:
a heater configured to heat an aerosol generating material; and
a controller configured to:
measure a resistance value of the heater by using at least one electrical characteristic associated with the heater,
select a power profile from among a plurality of power profiles based on the measured resistance value of the heater, and
control power supplied to the heater according to the selected power profile,
wherein the controller is further configured to control power supplied to the heater based on whether the measured resistance value of the heater is within a predetermined effective range,
wherein, based on the measured resistance value of the heater being out of the predetermined effective range, when an inhalation is detected, the controller is further configured to supply power to the heater outside a range for generating aerosol.
