1. A system, comprising:
a plurality of nodes distributed across a network, wherein respective nodes of the plurality of nodes represent respective pieces of equipment of a plurality of pieces of equipment connected to the network; and
a first device configured to monitor a first section of a plurality of sections of the network, wherein each section of the plurality of sections of the network operates a respective network domain and includes a respective device of a plurality of devices including the first device, and wherein the first device includes one or more circuits configured to:
detect, within the first section, a first piece of equipment of the plurality of pieces of equipment;
identify a first node of the plurality of nodes that represents the first piece of equipment of the plurality of pieces of equipment;
receive, from the first piece of equipment of the plurality of pieces of equipment, an identification of the first piece of equipment of the plurality of pieces of equipment;
update, responsive to receipt of the identification of the first piece of equipment, in a database, a record to include (i) the identification of the first piece of equipment of the plurality of pieces of equipment and (ii) an indication that the first node of the plurality of nodes represents the first piece of equipment of the plurality of pieces of equipment;
determine, based on information that identifies a second piece of equipment of the plurality of pieces of equipment, that the second piece of equipment of the plurality of pieces of equipment is absent from the first section of the plurality of sections, wherein the information that identifies the second piece of equipment of the plurality of pieces of equipment is (i) received from the first piece of equipment of the plurality of pieces of equipment and (ii) obtained by the first piece of equipment responsive to establishment of a connection between the first piece of equipment and the second piece of equipment; and
transmit, responsive to determination that the second piece of equipment of the plurality of pieces of equipment is absent from the first section of the plurality of sections, via the network, a query to one or more devices of the plurality of devices that monitor one or more second sections of the plurality of sections to identify the second piece of equipment of the plurality of pieces of equipment.
