1. A hammer tacker comprising:
a housing, the housing is formed from a fiber reinforced polymer material;
a staple holder comprising an elongated body configured to extend along a length of the housing, the staple holder being movable between an operative position secured within the housing, and a refill position wherein the staple holder extends outwardly from the housing;
the staple holder constructed and arranged to receive at least three staple sticks therein, and
a latch operatively connected to the staple holder,
wherein the latch comprises a pivotable press member that is movable about a pivot axis between a lock position wherein the pivotable press member is configured to lock against the housing and secure the staple holder in the operative position, and a release position wherein the pivotable press member is released from the housing to enable the staple holder to move to the refill position, the pivotable press member being resiliently biased towards the lock position,
wherein the pivotable press member including the pivot axis thereof is slidably mounted to the elongated body for linear movement relative to each other to move the elongated body from a normal position to a jam release position,
wherein the elongated body is biased towards the normal position and movable against such bias to the jam release position while the staple holder remains secured in the operative position within the housing;
wherein the elongated body has a rearward portion thereof extending in longitudinally overlapping relation with a rearward portion of the pivotable press member, such that pivotal movement of the pivotable press member towards the rearward portion of the elongated body causes the pivotable press member to be moved from the lock position to the release position.
