1. A backboard for a chest compression device, the backboard comprising:
a chest compression member;
a backboard configured to interface with a support surface, the backboard comprising:
a first side structured to accommodate an adult-sized patient at a first distance from a support surface when attached to the chest compression device in a first orientation; and
a second side structured to accommodate a pediatric-sized patient at a second distance from the support surface when attached to the chest compression device in a second orientation, the second distance being greater than the first distance;
wherein the first side and the second side are separate, unitary structures, and wherein the first orientation corresponds to the second side interfacing with the support surface, and the second orientation correspond to the first side interfacing with the support surface; and
a controller configured to determine an identification of the backboard and adjust the chest compression member based on the identification, wherein the controller is configured to determine the identification of the backboard based on a characteristic of a first connector or a second connector.
