1. A method of treating infected tissue of a patient comprising:
placing at least one electrode near a treatment site that comprises the infected tissue;
activating a generator to generate electrical pulses through the at least one electrode;
wherein the electrical pulses are sufficient to non-thermally ablate the infected tissue while leaving intact a natural tissue scaffold of the patient within the treatment site;
wherein the treatment site further comprises a pre-placed return electrode, wherein the pre-placed return electrode includes a medical device having a conductive material.
