7. A filter, comprising:
a filter body having a first end and an opposing second end;
a front cap associated with the first end of the filter body, the front cap being configured to couple to and receive smoke from a vacuum hose;
a back cap associated with the second end of the filter body, the back cap having a filter exhaust that is sized and shaped to associate with and communicate suction from a smoke evacuation system;
a compressed carbon reservoir disposed within the filter body between the front cap and the back cap;
a first porous divider disposed between the compressed carbon reservoir and the back cap; and
a second porous divider disposed between the compressed carbon reservoir and the front cap, the second porous divider being formed of a rigid material and being configured to move towards the first porous divider when the volume of the compressed carbon reservoir decreases.
