a partition map that identifies [ partitions storing ] data field groupings an [ , including the first and second partitions, ] access mode [ modes ] of at least one [ the ] data field grouping [ groupings] , and an encryption attribute [ attributes ] of at least one [ the ] data field grouping [ groupings, the partition map comprising a portion of the memory separate from the first partition and the second partition, wherein the partition map includes:
a first address portion indicating at least one boundary of the first partition;
a second address portion indicating at least one boundary of the second partition;
a first partition identifier corresponding to the first partition and associated with the first address portion, the first partition identifier indicating the first access mode and the first encryption attribute of the first data field grouping stored in the first partition; and
a second partition identifier corresponding to the second partition and associated with the second address portion, the second partition identifier indicating the second access mode and the second encryption attribute of the second data field grouping stored in the second partition.]
2. The imaging material supply cartridge of claim 1, wherein the [ first ] access mode comprises one of a read only mode, a read/write-or mode.
3. The cartridge of claim 1, wherein for each data field grouping, the partition map comprises [ the first partition identifier includes ] a [ first ] byte having a [ first ] bit identifying the [ first ] encryption attribute of the at least one [ first data field grouping and the second partition identifier includes a second byte having a second bit identifying the second encryption attribute of the second ] data field grouping and at least two bits identifying the access mode of the at least one data field grouping.
4. The cartridge of claim 3 [ 1, ] wherein the [ first and second partition identifiers each include a ] byte includes at least four bits identifying the [ respective first and second ] access mode [ modes ] of the at least one of the [ first and second ] data field grouping [ groupings] .
8. The imaging material supply cartridge of claim 1, wherein the partition map [ first address portion ] identifies boundaries of data field groupings with data identifying a length of each of the data field groupings. [ a first length or beginning location of the first partition and the second address portion identifies a second length or beginning location of the second partition.]
9. The imaging material supply cartridge of claim 1, wherein each and every data field grouping has a different access mode and a different encryption attribute.
12. The imaging material supply cartridge of claim 1, wherein each and every data field grouping has a different [ combination ] of access mode and a different encryption attribute.
13. An imaging material supply cartridge comprising:
a body containing imaging material;
a memory [ comprising one or more storage devices ] carried by the body, the memory including [ :
a first partition storing a first data field grouping comprising two or more data fields stacked end-to-end having a first access mode and a first encryption attribute;
a second partition storing a second data field grouping comprising two or more data fields stacked end-to-end having a second access mode and a second encryption attribute;]
a partition map that identifies [ locations of partitions storing ] data field grouping locations [ groupings, including locations of the first and second partitions, ] an access mode of each data field grouping and an encryption attribute of each data field grouping, [ the partition map comprising a portion of the memory separate from the first partition and the second partition, wherein the partition map includes:
a first address portion indicating a length or beginning location of the first partition;
a second address portion indicating a length or beginning location of the second partition;
a first partition identifier corresponding to the first partition and associated with the first address portion, the first partition identifier indicating the first access mode and the first encryption attribute of the first data field grouping stored in the first partition; and
a second partition identifier corresponding to the second partition and associated with the second address portion, the second partition identifier indicating the second access mode and the second encryption attribute of the second data field grouping stored in the second partition,
wherein ] at least one of the access modes comprising [ first access mode and the second access mode comprises ] one of a read only access mode, a read/write access mode and a read/write-or access mode.
15. A print cartridge comprising:
a body containing ink one or more print heads that receive imaging material from the body; [ imaging material] ;
a memory [ comprising one or more storage devices ] carried by the body, the memory including [ :
a user-accessible portion storing data fields, the user-accessible portion comprising:
a plurality of partitions storing data including data about at least one of imaging material type, imaging material quantity, printing instructions, print quality settings, authentication data, authorization keys, and access keys,
wherein each partition of the plurality of partitions comprises two or more data fields having a same access mode and encryption attribute; and
an attribute portion, separate from the user-accessible portion, comprising ] a partition map that identifies [ locations of the plurality of partitions storing ] data field grouping locations, [ groupings, ] an access mode of each data field groupings and an encryption attribute of each data field groupings at least one of the access modes comprising one of a read only access mode, a read/write access mode and a read/write-or access mode.
