8. A non-transitory computer readable storage medium storing executable instructions that, when executed by one or more processors of a user equipment (UE), cause the UE to support a sidelink communication by performing operations comprising:
receiving a sidelink channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) with one or more of a physical sidelink control channel (PSCCH) or a physical sidelink shared channel (PSSCH), wherein the sidelink CSI-RS occupies a single symbol of each of a plurality of slots during the PSCCH or the PSSCH; and
performing a data-aided sidelink synchronization based on the sidelink CSI-RS in response to an absence of a sidelink synchronization reference.
