1. A method to modify suggestion metadata in an electronic document, the method comprising:
receiving, by at least one computer processor, a copy request to copy a portion of a first electronic document, wherein the portion of the first electronic document includes a first suggestion having metadata that indicates the first suggestion was made by a first user, and wherein the copy request is initiated by a second user;
receiving, from a user device of the second user, a paste request to paste the portion including the first suggestion made by the first user;
determining, by the at least one computer processor, whether a destination for the paste request is a second electronic document;
in response to determining that the destination for the paste request is the second electronic document, determining, by the at least one computer processor, whether to modify the metadata of the first suggestion for the second electronic document; and
responsive to determining to modify the metadata of the first suggestion for the second electronic document:
replacing, in the metadata of the first suggestion for the second electronic document, an indication that the first suggestion was made by the first user, who added the first suggestion to the first electronic document, with an indication that the first suggestion was made by the second user, who requested that the portion including the first suggestion added by the first user to the first electronic document be pasted to the second electronic document, wherein the replacing causes the portion pasted into the second electronic document to have the metadata with the indication that the first suggestion was made by the second user.
