1. A kit for detecting diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) in fuel, the kit comprising: a buffered urease solution having a pH of about 6.8 to about 7.8 which upon shaking with a fuel sample is configured to separate from the fuel sample into two or more layers including an aqueous layer; a pH adjustment solution configured to adjust the pH of the formed aqueous layer; and a plurality of reagent strips which when contacted with the aqueous layer are configured to detect the presence of ammonia in the aqueous layer.
