1. An oil-resistant paperboard material, wherein said paperboard material is at least partially coated with a porous coating comprising hydrophobic nanocellulose, wherein said paperboard material is essentially free of a fluorocarbon coating, wherein said porous coating includes a first amount of lignin containing a first degree of sulfonation and a second amount of lignin containing a second degree of sulfonation, wherein said first degree of sulfonation is lower than said second degree of sulfonation, wherein said first degree of sulfonation is selected from 0 to 0.3 sulfur atoms per C9 lignin group, wherein said second degree of sulfonation is selected from 0.1 to 0.5 sulfur atoms per C9 lignin group, wherein said first amount of lignin is present at an external surface of said porous coating, and wherein said second amount of lignin is contained within internal pores of said porous coating.
