1. A method for making a chlorine-dioxide-generating article, the method comprising:
preparing a chlorine-dioxide-generating composition in a dry powder/granular form, wherein the composition comprises:
(i) active ingredients, including an alkali chlorite salt and a solid acid, and
(ii) at least one inert ingredient including a hydrophilic compound;
providing a canister, wherein the canister includes:
(i) an internal volume, the internal volume being sufficient to contain an amount of the chlorine-dioxide-generating composition, and
(ii) a first porous region, wherein the first porous region permits movement of a solvent into the canister, and
adding the amount of chlorine-dioxide generating composition to the internal volume of the canister.
