1. A method of forming methanol, the method comprising:
coupling a vessel to a wave energy conversion (WEC) device adjacent to an upper surface of a body of water, the vessel having seawater therein;
transferring hydrogen from the WEC to the vessel; and
while the vessel is floating on the body of water, degassing nitrogen and oxygen from the seawater on the vessel, then adding hydrochloric acid to the seawater on the vessel, then degassing carbon dioxide from the seawater on the vessel, and then reacting the hydrogen and the carbon dioxide to form methanol on the vessel.
