A method of treating an animal that has an enteric disease, the method comprising orally administering to the animal in need thereof a composition comprising therapeutically effective amounts of a powdered iron-binding glycoprotein and a powdered chitosan polysaccharide, to effectively treat the enteric disease in the animal, wherein, when administered, the powdered chitosan polysaccharide is present in the composition in a form of chitosan polysaccharide particles consisting of chitosan polysaccharide.
