1. A communication method, wherein the method comprises:
receiving, by a terminal device, first indication information from an access network device;
determining, by the terminal device, a target bandwidth part (BWP) from a plurality of initial BWPs based on the first indication information, wherein the plurality of initial BWPs are useable to page the terminal device that has not established a radio resource control (RRC) connection to the access network device;
receiving and monitoring, by the terminal device, a paging message in the target BWP from the access network, wherein the terminal device is not connected to the access network device by the RRC connection prior to receiving the paging message; and
obtaining, by the terminal device, the first indication information from a first broadcast channel (PBCH), thereby causing the terminal device to receive, before camping on the initial BWP, the first indication information from the access network device.
