1. At least one storage device or storage disk comprising instructions to cause one or more processor circuits of a security device to at least:
prevent a first communication from reaching a receiving device, the first communication from a sending device and addressed to the receiving device;
initiate sending of a second communication from the security device to the receiving device;
collect connection characteristics associated with the second communication between the security device and the receiving device;
determine a level of trustworthiness of the receiving device based on the connection characteristics associated with the second communication between the security device and the receiving device;
compare the level of trustworthiness of the receiving device to a threshold of trustworthiness; and
after a determination that the level of trustworthiness of the receiving device meets the threshold, (1) notify the sending device that a third communication addressed to the receiving device is permitted and (2) permit the third communication to reach the receiving device.
