1. A method for configuring channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) reporting at a network, comprising:
encoding a single CSI-RS reporting configuration for transmission to a user equipment (UE) that is in connected mode with both a first transmission and reception point (TRP) and a second TRP, the single CSI-RS reporting configuration including a plurality of CSI-RS resource sets, each of the plurality of CSI-RS resource sets including a plurality of CSI-RS resources;
wherein at least a first of the plurality of CSI-RS resource sets comprises a non-zero power CSI-RS (NZP-CSI-RS) resource set and the plurality of CSI-RS resources of the NZP-CSI-RS resource set comprise a plurality of NZP-CSI-RS resources, wherein the NZP-CSI-RS resource set is configured for channel measurement and the plurality of NZP-CSI-RS resources are configured as channel measurement resources (CMRs);
wherein at least a second of the plurality of CSI-RS resource sets comprises a zero power CSI-RS (CSI-IM) resource set configured for interference measurement and the plurality of CSI resources of the CSI-IM resource set comprise a plurality of CSI-IM resources;
decoding a CSI measurement communication received from the UE, the CSI measurement communication being based on the single CSI-RS reporting configuration communication; and
based on the CSI measurement communication, scheduling one or more downlink data transmissions.
