1. A step-up, non-isolated, direct current (DC)-to-DC converter comprising:
a first inverting boost stage having (1) a first input terminal configured to be electrically connected to a first terminal of a DC voltage source, (2) a first common terminal configured to be electrically connected to a second terminal of the DC voltage source (160), (3) a first switch S1, and (4) a first additional switch S1′;
a second inverting boost stage having (1) a first input terminal configured to be electrically connected to the second terminal of the DC voltage source, (2) a second common terminal configured to be electrically connected to the first terminal of the DC voltage source, (3) a second switch S2, and (4) a second additional switch S2′;
the first inverting boost stage having a first output terminal configured to be electrically connected to a first terminal of a load; and
the second inverting boost stage having a second output terminal configured to be electrically connected to a second terminal of the load,
wherein an output voltage generated by first and second inverting boost stages, between the first and second output terminals, includes at least a direct voltage contribution from the DC voltage source.
