1. A computer-implemented method comprising:
receiving first formatted data of a first format type from an adapter configured as an intermediary between a first computing system and a second computing system, wherein the second computing system is associated with an application programming interface (API), and the first formatted data is received by the adapter as one of input to the API or output from the API;
utilizing a mapping between data of the first format type and corresponding data of a second format type to identify second formatted data of the second format type corresponding to the first formatted data; and
providing the second formatted data to the adapter, wherein the adapter modifies, by replacing the first formatted data with the second formatted data, the one of the input to the API to provide to the second computing system or the output from the API to provide to the first computing system.
