1. An Information Handling System (IHS) comprising:
a touchpad configured to generate touchpad data for manipulating the operation of the IHS that comprises a housing that is susceptible to causing a false button press event due to flexure of the housing;
one or more buttons located beneath associated with the touchpad; and
at least one memory coupled to at least one processor, the at least one memory having program instructions stored thereon that, upon execution by the at least one processor, cause the instructions to:
detect a button press event reported by one of the buttons located beneath the touchpad;
in response to the detected button press event, determine whether the touchpad is reporting data indicative of a finger in contact with the touchpad; and
when the touchpad is not reporting data indicative of a finger in contact with the touchpad, inhibit the button press event from being processed by the IHS on the basis of the button press event being a false button press event.
