1. A display unit with monitoring features, said digital signage unit comprising:
an electronic display;
a sensor for measuring tilt; and
a controller comprising one or more subcomponents, said subcomponents including at least one of: an orientation detection device, an accelerometer, a timekeeping device, a location tracking device, and a database, wherein each of the one or more subcomponents is in connection with a processor, and wherein said controller is configured to:
receive data from said sensor; and
determine, from time to time, an operating status of the display unit based, at least in part, on the data from the sensor.
