1. An anemometer designed for use on a fan housing of a fan, the anemometer receiving air from an upstream direction, the anemometer comprising:
an impeller;
a retaining device for mounting the anemometer to the fan housing, wherein the retaining device is designed as a flow conditioner to straighten swirling flow of the air, the retaining device located upstream of the impeller and having a plurality of axial flow channels divided into a honeycomb structure by an arrangement of bars formed by radial struts and circumferential struts, wherein each of the radial struts extend curved in the shape of an arc in the same circumferential direction; and
wherein the retaining device has retaining means, by means of which the anemometer can be fastened to the retaining device such that it is axially adjoining the flow channels.
