1. A hydrogen peroxide generation system, comprising:
a liquid pump;
a liquid conduit loop;
a gas/liquid junction;
a reactor vessel,
a cathode,
an anode, and
a gas supply conduit providing a gas flow;
wherein the cathode is a coated electrode, comprising:
a sulfonated graphite slab having a thickness in a range of from 1 to 10 mm;
a coating, directly contacting the slab, comprising a silica-based sol gel, 0.5 to 30 wt. % iron (III), 0.5 to 10 wt. % copper (II), and 0.5 to 5 wt. % boron,
wherein the reactor vessel is configured to contain a liquid, the cathode and anode are disposed in the liquid and the gas supply conduit is configured to supply an oxygen-containing gas flow to the reactor vessel,
wherein the liquid pump is configured to circulate the liquid from the reactor vessel to the gas/liquid junction and back into the reactor vessel, and
wherein the gas/liquid junction is configured to mix the oxygen-containing gas flow with the liquid and deliver a droplet spray of the liquid at the cathode.
