a pump configured to deliver fluid from at least one fluid supply container to a surgical site;
a control system for operating the pump, the control system comprising:
a user interface for communication between the control system and a user, including inputting data to the control system, and
one or more non-contact sensors; and
a fluid conditioning portion for receiving a fluid conditioner, wherein the fluid conditioner comprises a rigid body and a film defining an inlet chamber and an outlet chamber, wherein the fluid conditioner connects to the pump such that the inlet chamber receives the fluid delivered from the pump and the fluid moves through the fluid conditioner and out through the outlet chamber prior to moving to the surgical site,
wherein the one or more non-contact sensors comprise a fluid presence sensor disposed proximate to the outlet chamber and configured to detect a presence of the fluid in the outlet chamber through the film, and
wherein the control system is configured to expel excess air from the outlet chamber until a level of the fluid in the outlet chamber is detected by the fluid presence sensor such that an amount of air is maintained in the outlet chamber above a location of the fluid presence sensor.
