1. A golf shoe comprising:
an upper and a sole attached to the upper, the upper comprising:
a heel cup with a first surface and a second surface; and
a plurality of asymmetrically shaped or positioned pads provided between the first surface and the second surface, the plurality of asymmetrically shaped or positioned pads comprising a first pad and a second pad that is entirely separated from the first pad,
wherein the first pad is configured to extend along a first side of the heel cup and across a center line onto a second side of the heel cup, and
wherein the second pad is positioned entirely on the second side of the heel cup between the center line of the heel cup and a front or side edge of the second side of the heel cup.
