1. An aerosol-generating article for producing an inhalable aerosol when heated, the aerosol-generating article comprising:
a rod of aerosol-generating substrate;
at least one of a mouthpiece, an aerosol-cooling element, and a support element provided downstream of the rod of aerosol-generating substrate;
a wrapper circumscribing the rod and the at least one of the mouthpiece, the aerosol-cooling element, and the support element; and
at least one heat-expandable element disposed on an outer surface of the wrapper at a location along the at least one of the mouthpiece, the aerosol-cooling element, and the support element,
wherein the at least one heat-expandable element comprises a heat-reactive material configured to expand upon heating such that upon heating the at least one heat-expandable element expands radially by at least 0.01 millimeter.
