1. A monitoring device for remotely monitoring health of a livestock animal, the monitoring device comprising:
an elongated body within predefined dimensional limits that enable the monitoring device to be orally administrable into the livestock animal and to remain inside its stomach without being excreted;
a set of electronic components housed within the elongated body, the electronic components comprising:
a battery for powering the electronic components;
a temperature sensor for measuring body temperature of the livestock animal;
a computer processor for processing the measured temperature into temperature data; and
a wireless communications component for transmitting the temperature data to a remote computer device for processing to monitor the health of the livestock animal; and
a magnetic mechanism housed within the elongated body and configured for:
activating the monitoring device in response to the magnetic mechanism detecting magnetic interference from an external magnetic device; and
registering the monitoring device with the remote computer device to thereby pair the monitoring device with the remote computer device, said registration comprises transmitting, in response to said activation of the monitoring device, an activation data packet to the remote computer device for matching with predefined identification data of the monitoring device,
wherein the magnetic mechanism is configured for resetting the monitoring device to an inactive mode in order to reattempt registration with the remote computer device; and
wherein the monitoring device is configured to disable the magnetic mechanism after said registration to prevent resetting of the monitoring device, thereby permanently pairing the monitoring device with the remote computer device.
