1. A method for a user equipment (UE) to identify a cell global identity (CGI) of a target cell that transmits synchronization signal blocks (SSBs) according to an SSB periodicity of the target cell, comprising:
determining that an SSB Measurement Timing Configuration (SMTC) periodicity for measuring the SSBs of the target cell has been configured to the UE by a serving cell;
decoding a master information block (MIB) of the target cell from an SSB of the target cell that is measured based on the SMTC periodicity, wherein the MIB includes multiplexing pattern information for the target cell;
based on the multiplexing pattern information, identifying whether an SSB and control resource set (CORESET) multiplexing pattern used by the target cell is a pattern 1, a pattern 2 or a pattern 3; and
based on identifying that the SSB and CORESET multiplexing pattern used by the target cell is the pattern 2 or the pattern 3, identifying the CGI of the target cell from a system information block type 1 (SIB11) of the target cell by reading the SIB1 based on the SMTC periodicity of the target cell.
