1. An electronic device comprising:
a charging integrated circuit (IC) including a direct charging circuit configured to charge a battery; and
an application processor configured to issue a request to output a maximum voltage corresponding to a target current to an external power source, perform a ramp-up operation on a charging current input to the charging IC based on the maximum voltage, compensate for a difference between the charging current and the target current in response to the charging current entering a constant current period, and enter a sleep mode during the constant current period in response to the charging current reaching the target current,
wherein the ramp-up operation includes increasing the charging current from a first positive current at a first time to a second positive current at a subsequent second time, and
wherein the second positive current is equivalent to the target current corresponding to the maximum voltage.
