1. A method comprising:
establishing a coupling between an enrollment device and a portable device, the establishing the coupling comprising establishing an electrical contact between an enrollment device interface of the enrollment device and a portable device interface of the portable device, wherein the portable device includes a biometric reader;
powering by the enrollment device through the electrical contact, the portable device;
while the enrollment device and the portable device are coupled, displaying by the enrollment device a prompt to enter an enrollment identifier;
in response to the enrollment device displaying the prompt to enter the enrollment identifier, while the enrollment device and the portable device are coupled, receiving, by the enrollment device, an input of the enrollment identifier via an input device of the enrollment device;
while the enrollment device and the portable device are coupled, verifying, by the enrollment device, that the enrollment identifier is valid;
in response to the enrollment identifier being valid, while the enrollment device and the portable device are coupled, transmitting, by the enrollment device, data to the portable device, wherein receiving the data by the portable device causes the portable device to transition to an enrollment mode, wherein, in the enrollment mode, the biometric reader of the portable device accepts an input of biometric;
while the enrollment device and the portable device are coupled, displaying, by the enrollment device, a prompt to enter a biometric;
in response to the enrollment device displaying the prompt to enter the biometric, while the enrollment device and the portable device are coupled, receiving, by the biometric reader of the portable device, an input of the biometric of a user; and
while the enrollment device and the portable device are coupled, storing, by the portable device, the biometric in a memory of the portable device.
