1. A circuit comprising:
a local memory; and
a data transfer circuit coupled to the local memory and configured to couple to an external memory, wherein:
the external memory is configured to store a set of values arranged in a matrix having a first column and a second column; and
the data transfer circuit is configured to:
transfer the first column of the matrix from the external memory to a first non-contiguous subset of the local memory; and
duri2ng processing of the first column of the matrix by a processing unit, transfer the second column of the matrix from the external memory to a second non-contiguous subset of the local memory such that the first column and the second column are interleaved in the local memory.
